Lesley Blair outlines plans as she takes on role of chair at Babtac

Lesley Blair plans to develop “fit for purpose” qualifications and expand the board in her first year as Chair for the Babtac and Cibtac Council.

Blair, who was appointed to the role on Jan 1, is a beauty therapist who joined the council in 2012 after working as a Cibtac examiner for 17 years. “I’m passionate about education and standards and would like to see recognised qualifications that are fit for purpose. We’re a great profession and it’s about building on that and making sure the standards are there,” said Blair.

Raising consumer awareness about the proper qualifications to look for when booking in for a treatment is also high on the agenda. “I’m working with the English and Scottish Governments on this. Consumers need to look for therapists who are qualified and verified so they feel safe going to somebody they can trust,” said Blair.

Expanding the board is another top priority. “I want to increase the numbers so there’s a diverse group of professionals in the room with different opinions,” she said, adding that interested beauty pros should email her at lesley.blair@babtac.com
