Time to celebrate

T he biggest industry awards night is just around the corner, back at glamorous Grade I-listed space Tobacco Dock in London.

The Professional Beauty Awards 2018 finalists are a mix of winners and the highest-scoring finalists from the 2017 PB Regional Awards, plus individuals, clinics and employers who entered the national awards directly. An additional 11 categories comprise the

World Spa & Wellness Awards, the finalists of which are spas and wellness destinations from all around the world.

Finalists in the salon, spa and nail salon categories, as well as all spas in the WSW Awards, had an announced “official visitor” come to tour the facilities, experience treatments and interview the owner or manager.

They also hosted a mystery shopper, who experienced treatments and facilities, and an overnight stay in the case of the residential spas. Both visitors then completed a lengthy score sheet and were asked to provide comments on every area of their visit.

These reports were then shared with a panel of esteemed industry experts, all of whom have owned or operated beauty businesses in their impressive careers. Every judge is asked to declare that they have no vested interest in any of the finalist businesses, ensuring a solid, fair judging process at every step.

Finalists in the individual categories (Nail Professional of the Year, Therapist of the Year and Make-up Specialist of the Year) attended a judging day in central London to be interviewed by judges and carry out treatments under controlled conditions and the watchful eyes of floor judges.

The Employer of the Year finalists are judged on a presentation and interview, while the Medical Aesthetic Clinic of the Year finalists were interviewed by an “official visitor”, who also observed treatments. PB

The Awards takes place on Sunday, February 25, at Tobacco Dock, London. Tickets cost £149+VAT or £1,490+VAT for a table of 10. Secure your place at professionalbeauty.co.uk/pbawards
