Katherine Daniels Anti-Ageing Deluxe Eye Treatment

The British skincare brand will be launching its Anti-Ageing Deluxe Eye Treatment exclusively at Professional Beauty London this month. The 50-minute treatment revitalises the eye area by reducing puffiness and the appearance of fine lines.

Following make-up removal, the face and neck is cleansed using the brand’s Essential Cleansing Milk, before being toned and exfoliated. An eye massage is performed using Multi-Tasking Eye Balm to drain and firm the area, before application of the Anti-Ageing Eye Masks to the upper and under-eye areas to boost hydration.

The masks contain freeze-dried sea kelp to help retain minerals in the skin; a complex of calcium and sodium to boost cell energy and regeneration, improving skin density and firmness; and hyaluronic acid and protanediol to lock in moisture.

A cryosphere massage is conducted to firm and lift skin, before the masks are removed and finishing products are applied. Katherine Daniels recommends charging £43 to £63 for the treatment (depending on location). Call the brand on 01767 682288

Thalgo Merveille Arctique Body Ritual

Thalgo will unveil its latest body ritual Merveille Arctique, inspired by the chill of the Arctic and the warmth of Scandinavian heat therapy, at Professional Beauty London. The 120-minute treatment uses a combination of hot and cold techniques to ease aching muscles, improve sleep quality and provide “a deep sense of wellness”.

After the welcome ceremony, the body is warmed with a hydro-massage bath using Merveille Arctique Effervescent Crystals, which are packed with Icelandic lichen oleate to soften skin and relax the body.

Next comes the cooling body scrub, formulated with salt flakes and cryo-extract of boreal algae to re-mineralise, hydrate and detoxify, before moving on to a variety of massage techniques to release muscle tension.

The legs, back, arms and stomach are treated in rhythmic cycles using Swedish techniques such as petrissage, stretching, rolling and loosening, combined with deep-tissue movements, pointed sliding and tracing, to leave the body relaxed.

Then, the client is stretched out under the soothing pressure of the brand’s cooling Relaxing Massage Balls, before concluding with rocking. Thalgo recommends charging £75 to £120 for the treatment (depending on location). Call the brand on 020 7512 0872

Caudalie Premier Cru Facial Treatment

To tie in with the launch of its latest product Premier Cru The Serum, Caudalie has developed a 50-minute complementary facial and will be showcasing it at Professional Beauty London.

Aimed at older clientele who want to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, the Premier Cru

Facial Treatment cleanses, tones and exfoliates before using massage and derma-roller techniques to “restore youth and radiance” to the complexion. Next, a mask enriched with resveratrol is used to lift and firm skin before application of the Premier Cru

Serum to tone and moisturise, using its blend of grape-seed polyphenols, vine resveratrol and viniferine. The treatment finishes with application of the cream from the same collection.

Caudalie recommends charging £85 for the treatment. Call the brand on 020 7720 7111

This month we tried… La Sultane de Saba Rejuvenating Hammam

The lowdown: La Sultane de Saba is based on traditional Eastern and African therapies. In the UK, it’s in several five-star spas, and The Ned, which opened last year in London, is among the most recent.

While Cowshed, Dermalux, IS Clinical and De Mamiel products are used in its eight treatment rooms, The Ned’s hammam offers exclusively La Sultane de Saba treatments. The 60-minute Rejuvenating option includes a black soap wash, scrub, hair cleanse and shirodhara, then a back, neck and shoulder massage.

The experience: When booked for a group, one of the wow factors of the treatment is its synchronised steps. All therapists greet their guests together then carry out the treatment in unison, making for a striking setting.

Although I experienced it alone, the treatment retained a sense of theatre as I was led to the huge marble hammam. It began with a foot cleanse then gentle body and face cleanse using

La Sultane de Saba Black Soap, which contains crushed Moroccan olives and eucalyptus oil. Ice-cold flannels were then applied to my pulse points and I was left to relax before the soap was rinsed with warm floral water.

Next came the scrub, using an exfoliating glove, which I was later given to take home. Then it was on to the hair; it’s an oddly comforting experience having your hair washed by someone else, and the detoxifying Rassoul Lava Clay and warming shirodhara element made it even more soothing. My therapist then led me to a treatment room for the divine back massage element of the ritual, which used shea butter blended with the oil I was most drawn to – calming orange.

Business benefits: Authenticity is increasingly important to consumers, who are looking to buy into the story behind a treatment. La Sultane de Saba uses traditional recipes and traceable organic and natural ingredients, and the gift of the glove to use at home continues the experience and keeps your spa in the client’s mind.

The treatment costs £150 at The Ned. Call La Sultane de Saba’s UK distributor Spa Voyage on 01483 450830 Tried by Eve Oxberry

Advanced Esthetics Solutions The Pyramid Facelift

The Pyramid Facelift uses three minimally invasive anti-ageing technologies in combination – microneedling, tripolar radiofrequency and dynamic muscle activation – to target fine lines and wrinkles in just 30 minutes.

Using the Divine Pro platform, trifractional radiofrequency is used to trigger the body’s natural healing process to get rid of damaged skin cells and produce new and healthy skin.

Next, voluderm penetrates the epidermis using microneedles while applying radiofrequency to volumise the deep dermal layer, stimulating the body to naturally produce hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin.

Then, tripolar dynamic muscle activation technology is used to lift and tone skin, while also accelerating lymphatic drainage and blood circulation and optimising tissue oxygenation.

The brand says the treatment “offers the results of a face lift without invasive surgery” and cites benefits including dermal volumising, facial contouring, and skin resurfacing, tightening and rejuvenation. The treatment will be demoed at Professional Beauty London. Advanced Esthetics Solutions recommends charging from £250 for the treatment. Call the brand on 02920 231228

This month we tried… BDR Rejuvenating Treatment

The lowdown: German cosmeceutical brand BDR’s medical-grade, non-invasive facial system aims to rejuvenate on multiple levels, tackling wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation and loss of volume by addressing imbalances in skin function. I had my 120-minute facial at the Dr Gabriela Clinic on London’s Harley Street.

The experience: My therapist Stefania Lombardo and I agreed that the treatment should focus on addressing my breakouts and nasolabial folds, which I’ve noticed have become slightly more pronounced. Lombardo said this was most likely due to loss of collagen and said she would pay extra attention to this area when it was time for the microneedling part of the facial.

She began with a small-molecule glycolic acid peel to gently loosen dead cells, excess oil and debris, followed by more intense exfoliation with the brand’s patented plastic micro-bristles, which are attached to a microdermabrasion device and vibrate at high frequency to brush away cells loosened by the peel. Next up was microneedling. BDR’s handpiece is billed as pain-free, with a gentle massaging motion to reduce pricking. I only felt ever so slight discomfort as Lombardo moved it over my face, stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. The needles were worked over a layer of Re-charge hydrating serum, which contains both low- and high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acids and antiinflammatory panthenol.

Lombardo donned a pair of gloves to perform the next part of the facial – the Sublime Hands Massage. An electrostatic element within the gloves provided a sensation like I’ve never experienced before, sending deep vibrations into the facial muscles to lift as well as stimulating microcirculation.

She then put me under an LED canopy for a dose of blue light therapy to fight off acne-causing bacteria. To finish, she applied brightening Re-action Tonic followed by Re-vital PH to balance oil production. Business benefit: The BDR system incorporates several unique takes on popular facial elements that make for easy selling points. The crystal and vacuumfree method of microdermabrasion is a great draw for clients with sensitive skin as it avoids the irritation that can come with traditional microdermabrasion.

Meanwhile, the electrostatic massage brings a soothing – but still efficacious – element to an otherwise functional facial. UK distributor Arna Group recommends charging £300 for the treatment. Call the brand on 020 7183 3193 Tried by Georgia Seago
