There are an incredible 11 education and training programmes running at PB London at ExCel on February 25–26. Here are a few of the sessions you can’t afford to miss

SEMINARS

Professional Beauty sets its trade shows apart by delivering carefully crafted seminar programmes that offer something for every beauty industry pro, and this year is no exception. The show is back with a revamped schedule that promises exciting, engaging learning opportunities

Advanced Therapists

The Advanced Therapists programme was developed to cater to the fast-growing sector that straddles beauty and medical treatments and the therapists who perform these in-demand services. The programme covers non-invasive treatments such as needling, permanent cosmetics and laser for skin rejuvenation.

Don’t miss: Creating a bespoke treatment plan for your client: Sunday, 1pm

Pamela Marshall, clinical aesthetician and co-founder of Mortar & Milk, will teach you how to put together a comprehensive, bespoke treatment plan for clients – one of the key qualities of a great advanced therapist. Marshall will share her advice on carrying out a thorough consultation and creating a personalised treatment plan that uses advanced techniques to achieve the optimum results.

Business Skills

The Business Skills programme is overhauled for every show to reflect current trends in client behaviour and the most pressing issues affecting beauty businesses. Successful speakers from all areas of the industry will bring practical advice on how to keep your salon or spa moving forward while ultimately retaining clients and improving profitability.

Don’t miss: Video marketing on a budget: Monday, 2pm

Video marketing is the best way to engage clients nowadays, but many salon owners are understandably put off by the costs involved. Zara Elliott, founder of salon consultancy Blush Academy, will show you that creating videos doesn’t have to cost a fortune. In fact, Elliott’s session will explain how to create standout video content to drive clients into the salon on any budget.

How to…

Packed with hands-on content that covers everything from waxing to social media, each session on the “How to…” line-up will equip you with the skills and know how to reach your goals and expand your offering.

Don’t miss: Male intimate waxing - your manscaping 101: Monday, 2pm

Two of the industry’s most esteemed waxing pros – Sam Marshall, founder of The Beauty Guru, and Andy Rouillard, founder of Axiom Wax Academy – come together to tell you everything you’ve ever wanted to know about male intimate waxing. Their session will include a Q&A, live demonstration and advice to help you tackle any situation that may arise on the treatment couch. The duo will also talk about inclusivity to ensure you make all clients feel welcome.

SOS: Support Our Salons

This brand new seminar programme will make its debut at PB London. The SOS campaign is all about supporting our fantastic salons to thrive and grow, and this line up is a reflection of the issues affecting you right now, put together from the feedback we received from the entries to our SOS competition at PB North 2017, where the campaign launched. The programme tackles the challenges submitted to us by real salon owners, from recruiting staff to protecting your business from unforeseen events.

Don’t miss: Tackling the staff shortage: how to attract the right talent to your business: Sunday, 11am

PB Award-wining salon owner Stefania Rossi of Utopia Beauty and Advanced Skincare will tackle the industry’s recruitment crisis in her session on attracting the best therapist talent to your salon. She’ll share her top strategies for hiring quality employees each and every time.

Seminars cost £3 per session. Book your place at professionalbeauty.co.uk/pbreg

Support Our Salons Competition

Tell us about your biggest salon or mobile business challenge and how you overcame it and you could win £1,000 and lunch with Professional Beauty managing director Mark Moloney. The winner will be announced at 5pm on Sunday, February 25 at the show. Visit professionalbeauty.co.uk/SOS to enter.

LIVE STAGES

Education comes to life on the live stages, where you can see demonstrations of the latest trending treatments and get all the advice you need on making them a success in your beauty business. Aesthetic Treatments Stage

This live stage line up reflects the huge amount of attention currently concentrated on the aesthetic treatments sector. Aimed at aesthetic therapists and those looking to take their treatment offer to the next level, this stage will feature everything from lasers to peels and ultrasound.

Don’t miss: Unleashing the power of plasma: Monday, 11am

Plasma is currently the hottest trending treatment. Find out all you need to know about this new noninvasive therapy with Nicky Temple- Heald of Crystal Clear as she introduces the technology behind plasma and the indications it can treat.

Nutrition and Wellness Stage

The wellness movement is taking over the spa industry – and making its way into salons across the UK, so it makes sense to host a stage dedicated to helping clients to live well. Anyone interested in offering an inside-out approach to beauty should catch some sessions to take away tips on helping clients to eat, sleep and feel better

Don’t miss: Burnout and mental wellness: how anxiety and stress affects therapists and how to manage them in the workplace: Sunday, 4pm

Looking after clients is at the core of every beauty business, but what about the health of your most valuable assets; your staff? In her session, Beata Aleksandrowicz, co-founder and director of the Pure Spa Training Method, will speak on the timely topic of poor mental health and how it can affect therapists. She’ll share tips on how to spot the signs that a therapist is suffering from anxiety or stress and how to manage it, to ensure your team is happy and healthy at work.

Trends & Treatments Stage New for 2018, this stage will host live demonstrations of the latest treatment trends and need-to-know techniques to keep your menu current. There’s something for everyone, be it lashes, brows, make-up, male grooming or nails.

Don’t miss: How to tell a trend from a fad and when to invest: Sunday, 1pm

One of the most important skills to have as a successful salon or spa owner is the ability to spot the next big thing clients are sure to love. In this session, Becky Woodhouse, chief executive of Pure Spa & Beauty, who runs seven salons and spas, will teach you to tell a trend apart from a fad, and how to know when it’s worth investing in the latest product or treatment.

Warpaint Make-up Stage

This year, the Warpaint stage comes packed with sessions offering practical advice to help you take your make-up career to the next level. Covering self-promotion via social media, how to make your freelance business work and when to take on an agent, this stage has it all, for budding artists and pros alike.

Don’t miss: Education, education: where to source the best courses for your level of artistry. Sunday, 1:30pm

Celebrity MUA Armand Beasley will talk all things education and advise you on where to go to find the best course to take your career higher. Whether you’re just starting out or looking for a course to teach you a particular specialism, this session will equip you with the insider knowledge you need.
