NATIONAL SPA WEEK

National Spa Week returned on September 10-17 with a “celebrate spa” theme. Organised by the UK Spa Association (UKSA), more than 206 locations across the UK and Ireland took part, offering special promotions and events across the week. Macdonald Hotels Spa Collection launched a social media competition for people to nominate a friend to win a spa experience and overnight stay, while Gleddoch Hotel and Spa, Glasgow, offered 15% off individual treatments, spa days and spa breaks. There were also several spas nationwide that ran “bring a friend for free” deals, including London spas K West and Le Kalon Spa at The Bentley.

CLOUD TWELVE CLUB OPENING

NOTTING HILL, LONDON

PB features editor Georgia Seago attended the press launch of wellness and lifestyle members club Cloud Twelve Club on September 5. The event started with a sample tasting menu breakfast, followed by a presentation from founder Jenya Emets and talks from experts who worked on the project. The launch was rounded off with a tour of the threestorey building and an opportunity to experience some of the treatments on offer. Read our Cloud Twelve Club launch analysis on page 142.

VIDA FOR YOU LAUNCH

THE TERRACE, FITZROVIA, LONDON

Vegan skincare brand Vida For You held a launch event on September 10 to introduce its products and concept to beauty and aesthetics trade press, including PB editorial assistant Lydia Mormen. Canapés and Champagne were served to guests, who then had a presentation and product sampling session. The skincare range includes Replenish Gold Elixir, Re-glow Diamond Elixir and Re-enhance Eye and Lip Contour Formula. Future launches will include a body care and babyrange. The brand has been developed by beauty and medical device manufacturer Vida Aesthetics.

PARADISE NOW PRESS LAUNCH

ECCLESTON YARDS, LONDON

“Wellness playground’’ pop-up Paradise Now held an opening evening for the interactive installation on September 6. PB deputy editor Amanda Pauley and editorial assistant Lydia Mormen attended to check out features including a pink mist waterfall enriched with energising minerals and natural extracts, and a meditation zone with aromatherapy-scented pebbles. Guests were treated to water-based cocktails made from London rainwater, geologically filtered to mimic the taste of springs from around the world.

THE ESTUARY POP-UP SPA AT FESTIVAL NO.6

PORTMEIRION, WALES

Festival No.6 took place September 6-9 in Portmeirion, Wales. The four-day retreat aimed to refresh and revitalise guests through a range of activities including music, spoken words and wellness activities. There was an onsite “spa” called The Estuary, featuring wood-fired hot tubs, deckchairs, a beauty corner and fresh mint and cucumber water, as well as multiple yoga events.
