SALON SPOTLIGHT

Townhouse, Fitzrovia, London

Opened: June 2018

Techs: Seven, with plans to employ more

Product houses: OPI, Gelish, Morgan Taylor

Interior design vibe: “Sophisticated but fun with NYC vibes; a place our customers can relax or catch up with friends over a glass of bubbles.”

USP: “Our focus is on offering the customer an experience like no other in the industry; be it the design of the salon, customer service or elegance of the nail art designs.”

Bookings: “All appointments are made on our website via our custom booking engine which allows customers full flexibility to change or cancel their appointment on the go up to two hours before the treatment.”

Typical client: “A businesswoman who is looking for a reliable service and sophisticated but cool design. She is equally suited to a night out with friends or a business meeting.”

Most popular service: “Our most popular treatment for hands is a gel mani with nail art. For the feet it’s a pedi with polish, but we also do a lot of understated nail art. We have our own seasonal collection of designs that varies every six months.”

Most popular colour: “Bubble Bath by OPI. It’s a beautiful pale pink shade that is perfectly suited to use as a nail art base.”

Future planning: “We operate a full-time graduate training programme for every new tech that joins Townhouse, no matter their level of experience. We do this to give a chance to the best and brightest new graduates from college with limited experience, and to teach the Townhouse way, to ensure we provide the same high standard to all customers.

“We think having a passion for looking after customers and a drive to be the best is almost as important as experience for nail techs.

We’re looking to make beauty therapy a true career with progression, job security and complimentary training as our staff happiness is the key to customer happiness.”

Juanita Huber-Millet is founder of Townhouse
