North Lash Championships

Professional Beauty North will host its first ever lash competition this year. Taking place on both days of the show (Oct 21–22), the North Lash Championships aims to support the growing lash industry and raise awareness of the skills and expertise needed for these intricate services.

The competition comprises three categories – Classic, Russian 3D and New Volume. In each category, there are three divisions: Novice (for competitors who have up to 18 months’ industry experience), Professional (from 18 months to three years) and Expert (three years or more).

Our select panel of judges include PB’s Lash Championships competition director Heather Hughes, Angel Lash & Brow Academy trainer Ilaria Marrazzo; owner of LiaLash Pro Lia Juhas; Novalash global master trainer Zachary Falb; and head of training for Kalentin Lashes Natalie Gibson.

“I often hear lash artists say that they aren’t good enough to enter competitions. The North Lash Championships support lash artists at all levels, so even if you’ve just started lashing, you have a chance of winning the Novice category, which will give you untold industry exposure”, says Hughes.

North Nail Championships

Techs will once again go head-to-head to be crowned the best in the industry. With categories covering one stroke nail art to permanent polish and pink and white, the two-day competition (Oct 21–22) will put your skills and determination to the test.

The championship is open to seasoned pros and trainees, with dedicated categories for students.

Prizes and deadline:

First-place winners will receive a trophy, an “experience with a judge” day and be featured in Professional Beauty magazine. Second-place winners will get a glass trophy, third-place wins a medal and all other competitors receive a certificate.

The deadline for entries is October 18, except for the photographic categories, which have a September 24 deadline. Entry costs £10 per category for students and £24.50 for professionals. Enter now:

Warpaint North Make-up Championships

There’s no better way to show off your make-up mastery than at the one-day Warpaint North Make-up Championships. Taking place on Monday, October 22, it’s your chance to show off your application skills, originality and determination in front of leading industry names. Plus, there are categories for newbies and experienced pros, so everyone can take part.

• Runway: Flora and Fauna

• Body Painting: The Four Elements – Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.

Prizes and deadline:

MUAs who place first will be featured in Professional Beauty and Warpaint and given a trophy. Second-place winners will receive a glass trophy and third-place a medal.
