GLOW getters

This month’s launches include skin technologies to help clients get their glow on, and we try some serious cleansing and shaping treatments

3D Aesthetics x Dermalux

3D Aesthetics and Dermalux have joined forces to create a combination of facial treatments that complement one another.

The collaboration uses the Dermalux Flex MD LED device after a treatment with either 3D Dermaforce, which is an advanced device combining microneedling and radiofrequency technology to treat many facial and body concerns, or 3D HydrO2 facial, a multi-technology facial device for treating anti-ageing, congestion and dull or pigmented skin.

The Dermalux Flex MD channels LED wavelengths into the skin’s layers to rejuvenate cells post-treatment, as well as treating signs of ageing and acne, improving overall skin health, and relieving muscular and joint pain.

3D Aesthetics recommends charging a further £20 to £30 when adding the DermaLux Flex MD to an existing 3D Aesthetics treatment. 3d-aesthetics.co.uk / dermaluxled.com

Tried and tested… Hydrafacial Platinum

The lowdown: Hydrafacial combines peels, microdermabrasion and hydrating masks to leave clients’ skin glowing and refreshed, resurfacing while removing impurities and infusing the skin with serums. To celebrate the launch of its central London flagship, Hydrafacial is offering 750 free Deluxe appointments every month.

The experience: PB’s Lollie Hancock and Ellen Cummings both visited therapist Samantha Ruddock, who cleansed the skin before beginning with lymphatic drainage massage by using a high-pressure suction device. Then Hydropeel Tips were used to gently exfoliate and resurface the skin, with a blend of glycolic and salicylic acids providing a light peel.

Next, impurities and dirt were removed from pores with painless suction. Hydrafacial’s vortex-fusion technology was then used to infuse a serum containing peptides, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid into the skin.

Ruddock finished the treatment with blue LED lights, applied to combat acne and improve skin texture. The platinum package includes an “eye perk” to tone and hydrate the outer eye area, as well as a “lip perk” to lightly exfoliate and plump the lips. To protect the skin post treatment, Murad SPF 50 was applied.

The verdict: Ellen: With no downtime, this treatment was quick and fuss-free. Seeing the impurities which had been removed at the end of the treatment was a great indicator of how effective it was, and I received so many comments about my glowing skin.

Lollie: With loud music, bright colours and open treatment areas, the tech-heavy treatment brings facials into the 21st century. Being able to see what was extracted is the icing on the cake for this treatment – Iam now a #GunkieJunkie
Business benefits: Adds a tech-based offering to your treatment menu and a great pre-event treatment for clients looking to glow with no downtime.

Lumenis Photofabulous

Quinn Clinics

The Photofabulous skin rejuvenation therapy treatment uses the Stellar M22 IPL and Resurfx from Lumenis in a single treatment session to address pigmentation and textural concerns.

The treatment can be used to combat early signs of ageing while providing noticeable results for sunspots, fine lines and overall skin appearance through the use of two technologies.

The Stellar M22 IPL laser treats more than 20 skin indications, including acne, rosacea, pigmented and vascular lesions and age spots, featuring nine light filters and three light guides for fine-tuned treatments.

It’s combined with Resurfx, a 1565nm laser system for non-ablative skin resurfacing, which stimulates collagen growth and tightens underlying skin, using the Coolscan to ensure precise, homogenous and safe delivery while treating fine lines and wrinkles, surgical and acne scars, melasma and more.

Lumenis recommends a course of between three and five sessions at two-to-six-week intervals for optimal results.

Lumenis recommends charging from £275 per treatment. 020 8736 4110 / lumenis.co.uk

Tried and tested… LPG Endermologie Body Anti-Cellulite Treatment

The lowdown: I visited the LPG Training Academy in Hammersmith, London, where therapist Esther Simon began with a consultation in which she determined that the Anti-Cellulite Treatment would be the best option for my concerns. I then put on the LPG Endermowear suit – abodysuit which makes it easier to manoeuvre the machine and guides the therapist.

The Anti-Cellulite Treatment uses the Alliance 80 treatment head, which combines a motorised roll and flap with sequential suction. The first phase of the treatment mobilised tissues on the sacral area, buttocks, thighs and calves to decongest tissues, reactivate circulatory exchanges and prepare the skin for the next phase.

Phase two involved reducing fibrosis and stimulating fat release. The increased suction in this phase aims to improve skin firmness through encouraging collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production, achieved through a “swing” manoeuvre of the treatment head, where Simon performed small twisting motions in rhythm with the device.

After I removed the Endermowear suit, the treatment finished with Simon applying the Anti-Cellulite

Cream-in-Gel and Anti-Cellulite Intensive Serum to my feet and legs through a series of manual techniques. The Cream-in-Gel uses marine plant coral to release antistorage and anti-recurrence actions, while the Intensive Serum contains sacred lotus to dislodge embedded cellulite.

The verdict: My lower body felt lighter after just one Anti-Cellulite Endermologie treatment. It was pain-free and helped to loosen up tight leg muscles, and the Endermowear suit really enhanced and streamlined the experience.

Business benefits: This is a great introduction to mechanical massage for clients who want to try a more advanced but pain-free treatment, and the targeting of all cellulite types in one protocol makes it an efficient treatment. The serum and cream products are also available for retail, adding an upsell opportunity.

LPG recommends charging £2 per minute of treatment.
