Circadian health and a wellwashing crackdown are among the 10 trends that will take the global wellness industry by storm, according to the Global Wellness Summit’s (GWS) “The Future of Wellness 2020” Report.

1. Circadian health

With the sleep economy valued at £432bn, the focus will now turn to improving circadian health optimisation.

2. Ageing rebranded

More conglomerates will invest in the 55-year-old plus market as, for many countries, this demographic controls the highest percentage of disposable income.

3. J-wellness

It will be embraced as a holistic culture of wellbeing, from J-beauty to its reverence for meditative rituals as preventative healthcare.

4. Mental wellness and technology

Addressing mental health will span new categories such as affordable virtual therapy apps.

5. Energy medicine

The medical and wellness worlds will come together to optimise human energy fields to prevent illness.

6. Organised religion jumps into wellness

Congregations will fuse their physical and spiritual needs in novel ways, from aerobic fitness classes to meditative retreats.

7. The wellness sabbatical

The new travel concept - where days of work and wellness are intentionally blended at destinations that creatively make this possible - will soar in popularity.
