With the popularity of chrome nails showing no signs of slowing down, many of you are reporting seeing more clients coming in for the look than ever before. However, the technique doesn’t come without its challenges, with 43% of your techs admitting they’ve experienced chipping and peeling when trying to master the design. Not getting a mirror-like effect (20%) and the chrome not adhering properly (15%) are the other most common issues.

Gelish came out top as your favourite brand for dip systems, with 22% of you now using it, followed closely by Cuccio (17%) and NSI (13%). Meanwhile, as the war on plastic waste continues, just under half of you have started stocking plasticfree nail glitters in your salon or spa to show your commitment to the cause.

The people who participated represent a crosssection of the industry and were polled by email from November 1–8, regarding business for the month to October 31. Nail business for the Insider Nails page was calculated from data provided by spas and salons that offer nail services among other treatments. The figures given represent the average score for each answer. Brands are ranked when mentioned by several respondents.
