Student makeup artist wins industry talent search

Trainee make-up artist Lance Breakwell won this year’s Create the Look competition, run by business insurance provider SME Insurance Services.

Wolverhampton-based Breakwell beat other make-up artists, hair stylists, therapists and nail techs to win the competition, set up to showcase the UK’s new emerging talent in the hair and beauty industry.

Breakwell described his entry as “explosions of colour…twisted together with a dark sultry edge”. He added, “I wanted to create a full work of art, from the hair and make-up to the dress, which I also created myself. I wanted to show being a make-up artist isn’t just about pretty eye shadows and highlight that it’s an art form.”
