K Spa introduces workplace wellbeing through Department of Calm

London hotel K West has introduced spa packages that combine relaxing treatments with training in stress-reduction techniques via a collaboration with spa industry expert Dr Glenis Wade.

The Department of Calm at K West Hotel & Spa in Shepherd’s Bush, London, is a series of advanced treatment packages designed to make the workplace wellness trend more accessible to city workers.

Wade, who worked as a therapist in companies including Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa and The Green Rooms before training as a coach and counsellor, said she began focusing on individual stressmanagement training after noticing that most people decline to participate in corporate wellness programmes available to them, preferring to take control of their own wellbeing.

Wade said the programme focused on “supporting guests and local residents to cope with the chaos of organisational change, business problems and difficult management styles”.

All the Department of Calm packages blend one-to-one coaching with a relaxing spa activity to create a personalised resilience programme.

Wade also plans to launch online courses for spa practitioners in the Department of Calm method.
