UK spa clients now seeking discounts and social experiences

Brits are looking for bargains and willing to travel for the perfect experience when it comes to booking spa days, according to the latest data by booking agency Spaseekers.

With a database of more than 500,000 spa travellers, the company analysed its figures and discovered that from January to the end of April is the busiest online booking period of the year, with Monday the most popular day of the week.

Day deals that include afternoon tea are the most sought-after packages among customers, while there has been a 30% growth in group bookings year on year, with hen parties most in demand – between six to eight people being the perfect group size, the data showed.

The majority of the company’s customers live in the South East but most are willing to travel for the perfect spa day experience, which shows in Spaseekers’ top five most popular spa bookings: The Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel & Spa in Sheffield; Whittlebury Hall Hotel & Spa in Northampton; Hoar Cross Hall in Burton- Upon-Trent; The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield; and Mecure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel & Spa in Sheffield.

Most customers now book their breaks on mobile devices, and organic search is still the top lead for bookings, followed by pay per click (PPC) and brand awareness. When searching for a spa, customers are looking for a bargain, with “spa deals” the most popular landing page. Spaseekers director Jason Goldberg commented: “It’s fascinating to see the movement of spa customers across our website and the growth in traffic.”
