With anti-pollution skincare gaining traction, new facials launch claiming to shield skin from the great outdoors. Plus, Vita Liberata unveils its new tanning treatment

NEW: Caudalie VineActiv Facial

Caudalie has tapped into the anti-pollution skincare trend with a vitamin-rich facial that claims to protect skin against the effects of fast living and environmental aggressors. The treatment uses the brand’s latest anti-cell burnout complex, a concoction of vitamins and antioxidants, in combination with energising facial massage to activate blood and lymph circulation, rejuvenating dull complexions.

The facial begins with a cleanse, tone and exfoliation with buffing cream to remove dead skin cells, before a rhythmic massage and spritz of Beauty Elixir. The Instant Detox Mask is then applied to decongest skin, with a hand massage performed while it sets, before finishing off with Eye Cream, hydrating Glow Activating Serum and anti-wrinkle 3 in 1 Moisturiser from the complementary VineActiv skincare range. A light dusting of mineral make-up powder completes the treatment.

Caudalie UK recommends charging £70 for the 60-minute treatment. Call the brand on 020 7498 8944

NEW: Decléor Recharge & Glow Facial

French skincare brand Decléor has launched an express version of its popular Vitamin Glow Facial for busy city-goers in need of a pick-me-up. The 30-minute Recharge & Glow Facial claims to firm and hydrate the complexion using ingredients such as orange blossom extract, while sweet aromas are included to help clients escape from the stresses of everyday life.

The facial includes a cleanse, tone and massage, plus application of a hydrating mask, which softly cocoons the face to target issues caused by city pollution and give skin a dewy glow. The brand’s Aromessence Néroli Amara face oil is also applied, packed with essential oils from flower, fruit, leaves and twigs to hydrate skin and harmonise the mind. Decléor says the treatment will firm and tone skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and leave clients relaxed.

Decléor recommends charging from £30 for the 30-minute treatment. Call the brand on 020 8762 5016

NEW: Vita Liberata Ten Minute Treatment Tan Service

Vita Liberata’s latest launch combines tanning application with fullbody massage so clients can leave the salon relaxed and with a healthylooking glow. The treatment, which the pro brand is hoping will make tanning more of an experience in salon, begins with a fullbody exfoliation before application of its Ten Minute Treatment Tan lotion using a variety of massage techniques, which takes around 12 minutes.

The tan is then left to develop, absorbing into the skin in just 10 minutes, after which the client showers to avoid tanning actives staining clothes. The lotion is packed with pure organic botanicals and high concentrations of antiageing extracts to hydrate and firm the skin, and the colour will continue to develop posttreatment for four to six hours.

The service has already launched into selected accounts, including Hale Country Club in Cheshire, and is also available as an express 30minute treatment (minus the exfoliation).

Vita Liberata recommends charging £65 for the 30-minute treatment or £95 for the 60-minute option. Call the brand on 028 9334 4411

This month we tried…

Arcaya Actives Facial

The lowdown: Arcaya Actives has a range of more than 30 ampoules containing active ingredients such as peptides, vitamins and antioxidants, which can be used with skin needling, microdermabrasion, radiofrequency and oxygen treatments. The facial protocol is about personalisation, with the four steps – delivery system, base treatment, targeted treatment and final care – tailored to clients’ skin needs.

The experience: I visited Elenique Aesthetics in Fulham, London, to try out Arcaya’s fourstep facial. Aesthetician Elena GogolenkoCudworth began by asking me to fill out an extensive consultation form, covering medical conditions, sleeping patterns and lifestyle choices, before quizzing me about my daily skincare regime.

GogolenkoCudworth then cleansed and examined my skin, which was good overall but suffering with dry patches and a breakout on my chin – which she told me were most likely caused by stress and environmental aggressors.

My treatment plan involved oxygen as the delivery system, because I wanted fast results but with no downtime, in combination with the Hyaluron ampoule as my base treatment, which is packed with hyaluronic acid to promote cell renewal and tackle the dryness caused by the cold weather.

GogolenkoCudworth explained she would then use the nutrientrich Milk & Honey ampoule – my targeted treatment – to reduce inflammation around my spots, before finishing off with an intense dose of hydration from the Aloe Vera ampoule (my final care step), plus application of a serum and moisturiser with SPF.

The facial was completely different to others I’ve had before, focusing heavily on results and without relaxing elements to it such as facial massage. The coldness of the oxygen as it sprayed the ampoules initially shocked me, moving in a set pattern from my forehead down to my chin, but after a while became quite soothing. My skin looked clear and hydrated after the facial and felt lifted and firmed.

Business benefits: The service is a way for salons and spas to tap into the customisable skincare trend that’s tipped to be big this year without a massive investment, with therapists able to swap the ampoules used in treatment as clients’ skin changes. The ampoules can also be used topically at home, so they’re a great retail opportunity for therapists.

Arcaya Actives recommends charging between £80 and £150 (depending on location) for the 60-minute treatment. Call the brand on 020 7183 3193 Tried by Amanda Pauley
