Behind the scenes at the parties, launches and events in the world of beauty, aesthetics, spa and nails

Sweet Squared’s The Event

The Vox, Birmingham

Now in its fifth year, Sweet Squared’s The Event united beauty, nails and hair professionals for two days of networking, hands-on learning and partying. This year, deputy editor Kezia Parkins was there. Her highlight was the incredible fashion show that kicked off the celebrations hosted by CND co-founder Jan Arnold and the creative director of Kevin Murphy, James Nicholson. Based on disruption in the industry, the show saw models strut through the most iconic hair and beauty looks of past decades which were then “disrupted” by nail tech Fee Wallace and Kevin Murphy style master Caroline Kells.

Future Dreams Fashion Show

St Mary’s, London

The Future Dreams Charity Fashion Show, sponsored by Revitalash, presented spring/summer collections from leading fashion brands, with the event’s true focus on the models, each of whom have had their own cancer diagnoses. Hosted by fashion presenters Mark Heyes and Paula Moore, the event featured clothing from brands including Victoria’s Secret and Reiss, with all funds raised reinvested into the charity, enabling Future Dreams to continue developing its virtual and in-person breast cancer support services, promoting breast health awareness and funding research into secondary breast cancer.

Aesthetic Medicine Live & Awards

Olympia & Royal Lancaster, London

The PB team were out to support sister title Aesthetic Medicine for its awards and show in May. At Olympia, exhibitors from across the industry were on hand to demonstrate the latest products and help delegates discover emerging trends. There were also six educational streams featuring industryleading experts. On the Friday night, the party moved to the Royal Lancaster hotel for the AM Awards, where 14 winners were crowned including Aesthetic Therapist of the Year, Martine Jarman, and Aesthetic Clinic Team of the Year, which went to Blend Skin & Beauty Clinic in Cheshire.

ESK launch

Linnaean, London

PB content writer Ellen Cummings – along with the team from sister magazine Aesthetic Medicine – attended the UK launch of Australian skincare brand ESK. The brand’s founders, celebrity doctor Dr Ginni Mansberg and her husband Daniel, had flown over from Sydney and were on hand to tell attendees all about the evidence behind their skincare, as well as the importance of integrity to their brand. Guests were then treated to a Q&A session with Dr Ginni, which was hosted by Fiona Clark, founder and director of Harley Street Emporium, while enjoying the incredible food provided by Linnaean’s restaurant before leaving with a bag of Australian goodies – including some ESK products and a Tim Tam or two!

Professional Beauty & Hair Ireland

RDS, Dublin

The late May bank holiday saw team PB head to Dublin, where content writer Lollie Hancock spent a sunny weekend co-hosting the Trends and Techniques Stage at our Irish event, Professional Beauty & Hair Ireland, sponsored by Treatwell. The two days saw stunning looks created as part of the make-up and nail competitions, incredible speakers from the Irish beauty community take to the stage, and thousands of beauty pros visiting the event to network and discover the latest treatment and product innovations from leading professional brands. The event is set to return to the RDS on April 21-22, 2024.
