As the last month of trading before salons in England, Wales and Northern Ireland went into their second coronavirus lockdown, October delivered mixed results for the beauty industry. Retail sales were significantly down on last year’s figures and, unsurprisngly, treatment appointments were too, resulting in an average room occupancy of 52%, showing that the pandemic was still impacting consumer behaviour.

Making sure you have a treatment menu that delivers what clients want is key, which is why many of you have recently expanded your exfoliating services. Microdermabrasion is clients’ favourite exfoliating treatment (42%), followed closely by chemical peels (31%).
