Just before lockdown 2.0, business was picking up in spas but at a lower rate than expected – with sales down quite significantly on the year before. Treatment revenue was lower than in October 2019 for 50% of you, while retail sales were even harder hit, with 70% of spas saying that they were down year-on-year. Your treatment room occupancy also came in at a lower than expected 46%.
However, despite the impact of Covid-19 on your business, many operators have forged forward with making improvements to their business. An incredible 80% know how to safely recycle their used personal protective equipment (PPE) and have been doing so to reduce the impact of single-use plastic on the environment, while a quarter have trained their therapists in cancer touch therapy.
