Marian Newman and team to launch Salon Hygiene and Safety Rating Scheme
Lian Jackson, founder, SCin Matters, Standlake: “Such a great idea! As an electrologist I’m proud to be licensed with the council, it gives clients more confidence in my business.”
Nicola Stavrinou, founder, The Salon Boutique, Ilfracombe, Devon: “The public needs to be aware of hygiene and also qualifications because a lot of people don’t realise what qualifications to look for when they’re going for a treatment either.”
This month we asked you…
Which social media channels do you use for your business?
How do you take care of yourself as a beauty professional?
Stacey Havenhand, founder, Stacey Jayne Coaching, Maltby: “Self-care is the most important thing you can do for you and your business my fave is yoga and getting out for a run ”
The Pro Beauty Pod: Amy Bates on changing careers and body positivity in the beauty industry
Alyson Paul, Key Stage 2 leader, Bishops Itchington Primary School, Warwickshire: “Such an important area to be addressing, Amy, for more teaching – and training for professionals – that should be mandatory so that positive body image messages are given, which support mental as well as physical wellbeing. We teach in depth about self-image, body image, the pressures/ distortions of media, and peer pressure as part of the curriculum in PSHE in primary school but my worry is that given the pressures of time facing secondary teachers to fulfill all curriculum requirements as well as addressing personal, mental and social aspects of learning that older children need to counter the pressures of media and celebrity culture while being accountable to the DfE for delivering high academic results .”
