In the kit with... Maria Rylott-Byrd

The corneotherapist and co-founder of Skin Professionals UK shares her five favourite products from her 30-plus years in the industry

Dermaviduals Cleansing Milk

This gentle cleanser has a derma membrane structure to gently lift away dirt, grease, make-up and pollution build-up from the skin while working to repair the lipid barrier.

Why Maria loves it: “I meet a lot of compromised skins and in my bid to repair and protect the skin barrier first, I turn to Dermaviduals skincare, a true corneotherapy range that works with the biochemistry of the skin, not against it.

“This cleanser is hands-down the best I have come across. It is like wrapping your skin in a velvet blanket.”

Dermaviduals Kiwi Seed Oil Nanoparticles

The Kiwi Seed Oil Nanoparticles features 61% omega-3 fatty acids, which have a high anti-inflammatory potential, making the product suitable for soothing inflamed skin.

Why Maria loves it: “Skin is in a constant state of flux and it’s our job to help it adapt positively to its environment. There is a plethora of amazing actives to choose from in the Dermaviduals range and this one is rich in essential fatty acids and has great anti-inflammatory properties that calm reactive and compromised skins.”

Cytoplan Fos-au-Dophillus

With six probiotic strains and four billion live bacteria per capsule, this probiotic helps to maintain a balance of beneficial bacteria within the gut.

Why Maria loves it: “Inflammation presents in virtually every skin I see in clinic and it is invariably influenced by our gut, so taking care of our gut microbiome can radically improve our skin.

“Cytoplan is a British company that offers great quality, bio-available supplements, and the positive effects that this particular probiotic has shown for my clients speak volumes about its efficacy.”

Hypo 21 Purifying Skin Spray

The spray works to boost skin’s ability to self-repair, as well as soothing concerns including acne, rosacea and eczema.

Why Maria loves it: “It’s so nice to see a British company evolve a product that is this good. Every household should have a bottle.

“Hyperchlorous acid occurs naturally in our bodies and this spray enhances our skin’s natural ability to fight infection, calm inflammation and promote healing.

“I’m a big fan and use it in virtually all my treatments and even use it on myself in place of traditional toner.”

Celluma Pro

The three-mode Celluma Pro works to reduce muscle and joint paint while treating acne and wrinkles. The low-level light therapy device delivers blue, red and near-infrared light energy simultaneously to treat a variety of conditions with selected waves of light.

Why Maria loves it: “If I was asked to select just one piece of technology from my clinic, this would be it. With the propensity to travel through the barrier and into the skin, it offers a non-invasive way to work beyond the surface. From acne to joint pain, it is truly versatile.”
