Energy SAVERS

With costs rising, it’s never been more important to look at ways to save energy in your beauty business. A smart meter could be the logical next step

Smart meters are replacing traditional gas and electricity meters and are being installed in homes and small businesses across Great Britain.

When you’re focusing on keeping a business running smoothly, anything that helps make the day-to-day challenges a bit easier can be a welcome relief.

Save time

With a smart meter, your meter readings are sent directly and securely to your energy supplier, putting an end to manual meter readings. This means less admin for you and more time to focus on other areas of your business.

Accurate billing

Smart meters put an end to estimated bills. This means you know exactly how much your energy use is costing and you are only paying for what you actually use – which can be helpful when budgeting and managing your cash flow.

Save money

Smart meters track energy use in near-real time and can give you access to information on how much your business is spending at that moment and historically.

With this information you can find ways to use less and, therefore, spend less on energy. It’s a simple but effective tool to help take control of your business’s energy use, now and in the future.

Think green

Being more energy efficient means saving money and saving CO2. There are easy, low-cost things you may be able to do right now, like:

installing energy-efficient bulbs

using low-flow taps and flow regulators in wet areas

fitting timers to make sure everything gets switched off at night.

Team work

Engage your team to make sure:

equipment is unplugged when not in use (some things may be using energy unnecessarily, even when switched off)

the washing machine only goes on when you have a full load

the heating or a/c isn’t on when it’s not needed

the kettle is only filled with as much water as you need What’s more, if you get a smart meter installed, then you are helping to create a smarter and greener energy system for Great Britain.

Smart meters are part of a major upgrade to our energy system that will reduce energy waste and help our country make better use of renewable sources of power, such as wind and solar. If you have fewer than 10 employees, you could be able to get a smart meter.

Contact your energy supplier to request a smart meter (eligibility may vary) or go to smartenergyGB.org
