EDITOR’S COMMENT
Summer is finally here and things are looking brighter, according to the latest statistics – from both our monthly Insider surveys (see page 25) and the NHBF’s latest State of the Industry Report (page 10).
While recovery is ongoing following the closures and the knock to client confidence caused by Covid, the latest figures show a gradual return to profit for many salons and an increasingly confident outlook.
One of the key ways in which business owners across the industry have been working to create growth and recoup losses is by streamlining their treatment offerings to place more focus on the most profitable services.
As a result, interest in advanced aesthetics is booming and this month we bring you an in-depth guide to the latest body-contouring treatments shaping the salon market, including multi-technology devices to help maximise your bespoke treatment offer with minimal initial outlay. Check out the expert advice and product guide from page 46.
As the aesthetics industry continues to develop, concern has understandably grown about where the line should be drawn between medical and beauty treatments. So, the news this month that proposed licences for the more invasive aesthetic treatments are one step closer, has been welcomed by many.
Following years of debate and campaigns, the Act of Parliament that covers the proposed licences has been given Royal Assent, meaning it will be enacted into law.
Find out what this means for the industry on page 9.
If your specialism lies outside of the advanced treatments market, there’s still plenty in this issue to help your business grow. From our guide to nailing your pedicure treatments on page 54, to advice on how to integrate movement therapy into your offer (page 72), we hope you’ll find the tools you need to grow your business this summer and beyond.
