Do you include titles and pronouns on consultation forms that are inclusive for trans and non-binary clients?

Shannon Campbell, beauty therapist at Shannon Rose Beauty, commented:

“Pronoun pins are an excellent idea of how to make your clients feel more comfortable and start up conversations.”

Nicky Pearce: “I read the article ‘How to treat stretch marks with microneedling and radiofrequency’. I’ve been using combined microneedling for stretch marks and scarring for more than 10 years now and I agree that you can get some great results, especially as a preventative and routine treatment, and cycled with IPL, plasma, dermaplaning, and skin peels.”

Tell us about a time you were able to overcome your doubts and succeed

Jemma Evans, owner of Bella Grace Beauty, West Midlands, commented: “Doubts come thick and fast when you first start out. I remember those early days when a client would leave after a treatment, and I would convince myself that they didn’t like my work; or if a client messaged me after a treatment and I just couldn’t open the message in case it was to tell me there was an issue or they were unhappy. However, I had a little word with myself and reminded myself that everyone must start from somewhere, and that feedback – good or bad – is always a vital thing. It’s the only way we learn and grow.”

Debate: which factor is having the biggest impact on the recruitment crisis?

Emma Ginever, owner of The Essentials Birmingham, commented: “Recruitment was hard pre-Covid-19 but now it’s really hard to recruit and retain staff. The biggest issue is that therapists are not prepared properly for the role when studying at college. The course needs to be stricter and include far more elements, such as sales, mental health, and business training. It should be full time at least 30 hours per week.”

@idyllicbeautyspa: “Thank you so much.

We’re so excited to be chosen as a finalist for the Boutique Salon of the Year category at the 2022 #PBAwards. We cannot wait to attend the awards.”
