EDITOR’S COMMENT
This month, we’ve been busy here at PBHQ, preparing for autumn and the long-awaited return to in-person events.
We kick off on September 26–27 with Professional Beauty North in Manchester, and my team and I have been calling on some of the most talented professionals in the industry to share the wisdom of their experience on our live stages. Every seminar this year is geared towards helping you boost profits and get ahead of the trends, following a tough 18 months for the salon and spa market. You can get a sneak peek at the line-up on page 8.
After that, on October 17–18, we’ll be back in London for the flagship ExCeL show and, of course, the Professional Beauty Awards 2021.
Reading through the entries for this year’s awards was genuinely inspiring. The salons, spas and individuals that made the shortlist impressed our judges not only with their treatment and business skills but also with the resilience and resourcefulness they’ve displayed over the last year, keeping their teams motivated, championing high standards, and raising awareness of the amazing work that goes on in our industry. You can read more about these businesses on page 19.
We’re also looking ahead to the trends set to shape the salon and spa market this autumn. On page 33, Hellen Ward discusses how holistic treatments could be the key to ongoing customer loyalty, as lapsed clients continue to return to salons and spas in search of the downtime and self-care they rediscovered during lockdown.
Meanwhile, our trend focuses in this issue explore the nails (page 44) and make-up (page 50) looks that clients will be clamouring for once the weather turns cooler. As always, we’d love to hear your feedback so do get in touch via email or any of the social channels below.
