Upskilling is the word of the month for your techs, with a third looking to improve their UV gel enhancement technique and one in 10 their liquid and powder method. Making sure your techs’ work looks incredible on social media is important too, which is why many of you have invested in the right tools to get the job done. This has included buying the correct lighting (52%), a decent camera (24%) and some easy-to-use photo editing software (10%).
This focus on improving has paid off, with your team performing on average 26 manicures/pedicures per week, which is great news as your businesses bounce back from the impact of Covid-19. To make sure your nail techs continue to work to the highest industry standards, a third (33%) of you will joining be The Federation of Nail Therapists when it opens for membership. On page 44, we reveal which nail art looks, colours and shapes are predicted to be big this autumn/winter.

METHODOLOGY
Insider is compiled from a monthly survey of spas and beauty salons. The people who participated represent a cross-section of the industry and were polled by email from June 30–July 8, regarding business for the month to June 30. Nail business for the Insider Nails page was calculated from data provided by salons that offer nail services among other treatments. The figures given represent the average score for each answer. Brands are ranked when mentioned by several respondents.
