EDITOR’S COMMENT

As this issue goes to print, much of the industry is on a high, with beauty businesses across England and Wales celebrating the early days of reopening. The PB team has been on the ground capturing the excitement among salon and spa owners, teams and clients, and finding out which treatments clients are most excited to get back for. You can watch all our videos over on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

As we all emerge from what we hope will be the last-ever lockdown and adjust to the new normal, this issue is packed with advice, ideas and statistics to help you navigate the changes ahead.

In our Ask the Experts section on page 40, Phil Elder shares his tips on how to manage an initial spike in demand while successfully planning for it to plateau. Meanwhile, our spa trends focus on page 60 gives an insight into the changing business plans of some of the leading spa groups from around the world, including how they have adapted their treatment menus to meet changes in client demand following the lockdowns and the plans they have made for a profitable year ahead.

As restrictions continue to lift, weddings are also back on the cards, albeit on a smaller scale. With many delayed ceremonies now set to take place this summer, our lashes feature on page 52 takes a closer look at the bridal market, with tips from the experts on how to market to brides, the best treatments to offer them and the products to retail to ensure the lash look lasts right through the honeymoon.

Whichever treatments are bringing clients to your business this month, the whole team here at PB wishes you enormous luck.
