Dermalogica ProBright Facial Treatment

Dermalogica’s ProBright Facial Treatment works to address dullness, pigmentation and uneven tone by boosting the absorption of vitamin C into the skin for a brighter and smoother complexion.

The three-phase treatment begins by resurfacing the skin with a professional-strength lactic acid, which delivers a deep exfoliation, removing dead cells and allowing fresh ones to come to the surface.

BioLumin-C Pro Serum is then applied with electric infusion, using microcurrent, ultrasonic or galvanic technology to facilitate maximum absorption of the product. The treatment is completed with a final step of bio-activation to lock in the vitamin C.

Cooling Contour Masque is then applied to firm and increase the penetration of serums. The mask contains diatomaceous earth, calcium sulphate and algin, which give it a rubberising quality, plus a citrus oil blend.

There is also an at-home version of the treatment, ProBright@Home, consisting of a 35-minute virtual service guided by a therapist – suitable for during any enforced salon closure periods or for clients who are shielding during Covid-19.

Dermalogica recommends charging £70 for the 30-minute treatment. Call the brand on 01372 363600

CACI Electro Mask

CACI’s new Electro Mask allows facials to be carried out with the client’s nose and mouth covered, and was developed partly to support salons in Scotland, which have consistently been banned from performing treatments that require the client to remove their face covering, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Designed to be used with all CACI Systems, the mask uses antibacterial, electrically conductive silver fibre technology. It’s made in a breathable cotton fabric, providing a safe face covering for clients during Covid-19 while simultaneously working as a treatment mask.

It has Enhanced Tissue Repair (ETR) connectors, which can be used with ETR leads to provide a continuous microcurrent treatment for the whole of the lower face, to help heal and repair blemishes, scars, stretch marks and pitted skin.

CACI Micro Probes and/or Quad Probes can also be used through the Electro Mask to provide a Signature Lift or Jowl Lift treatment. The therapist can use the lower section of the Hydro Mask underneath the Electro Mask, followed by the Hydratone rollers over the top to provide a Hydratone Facial. Each mask comes individually packaged and is machine washable. One Electro Mask is recommended per client and can be used for the duration of a course of 10 treatments.

CACI charges £50 for a pack of five masks. Call the brand on 020 8731 5678

Aromatherapy Associates The Rose Indulgence Body Treatment

Aromatherapy Associates has created a luxurious 60-minute body treatment, The Rose Indulgence, using three products from its recently launched Rose collection – Rose Triple Exfoliator, Rose Pink Clay Mask and Rose Hand Cream.

Rose Indulgence is an exfoliating wrap treatment that aims to uplift the spirit while enriching the skin. It begins with guided breathing to bring calm and aid relaxation, before an exfoliation to soften the skin and allow the rose products to be fully absorbed.

The Pink Clay Mask is then applied to specialised areas on the back, legs, arms, abdomen and chest to balance the body’s energy, while the client enjoys a tension relieving scalp massage using De-Stress Frankincense Pure Essential Oil.

Finally, skin is further nourished with a layer of rose gel, oil and cream. If clients opt for the longer version of the ritual – 90 minutes – then their hair will also be treated with a hydrating mask and their face cleansed, exfoliated and massaged to complete the experience.

Aromatherapy Associates recommends charging £105 for the 60-minute treatment or £185 for the 90-minute treatment. Call the brand on 020 8569 7030

Guinot Détoxygène Facial

Guinot’s new Détoxygène Facial treatment has been created to combat the effects of pollution and toxins on the skin. Suitable for all skin types, it works to detox and re-oxygenate using ingredients such as papaya extract, EDTA complex (ethylene diamine tetra acetate) and green clay, leaving skin looking and feeling radiant and revitalised.

First, a dual-action enzymatic exfoliator with papaya extract and cellulose microparticles is applied, removing dead cells to leave the skin smooth and refined. Then, the detoxifying mask is applied over an ultra-fine gauze, followed with a massage to deeply purify the skin.

Finally, a re-oxygenating massage stimulates the microcirculation in the skin with alternating pressure points, smoothing strokes and pinching movements to promote cellular respiration. The reoxygenating serum contains Purisoft, an ingredient derived from moringa seed extract which acts as a detox shield, removing pollution microparticles and preventing them from permanently adhering to the skin.

Guinot recommends charging £55 for the 60-minute treatment. Call the brand on 01344 873123

Cynosure Potenza Bespoke Radiofrequency Microneedling Treatment

Cynosure’s Potenza Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling Device is the first FDA-cleared four mode RF microneedling device, offering therapists the ability to personalise treatments for each client.

Using ultrafine needles and radiofrequency energy, Potenza penetrates the top layer of skin, triggering the body’s natural healing processes and regenerating collagen and elastin. The treatment can be performed on all skin types and anywhere on the body, including acne vulgaris. The system combines monopolar and bipolar RF at one or two MHz frequencies and its monopolar RF mode delivers energy across a large area of tissue for deep heating and skin tightening through soft tissue coagulation.

The device is also equipped with Tiger Tip technology, a semi-insulated needle design, which allows therapists to address more tissue per treatment, meaning quicker sessions without sacrificing the epidermis. The device includes a single-needle handpiece designed to target and improve blemishes.

Cynosure recommends charging from £500 per treatment, depending on the treatment area and indication. Call the brand on 01628 522252

This month we tried… 111Skin bespoke facial

The lowdown: Founded by Harley Street cosmetic surgeon Dr Yannis Alexandrides, skincare brand 111Skin aims to transform clients’ complexions with formulas that work as a prevention, not just an intervention. The brand recently launched its Spa/Clinic by 111Skin concept, bringing its science-led formulas into UK spas to deliver results without compromising on the “experience”.

The experience: I got to try out the Spa/Clinic by 111Skin concept with facialist Milena Naydenov, 111Skin’s global head of aesthetics, at the brand’s flagship space in London. Naydenov performed a consultation, which covered my lifestyle habits and diet, medication, skincare routine and mental wellbeing, explaining that all of this can feed into how my skin behaves.

I explained that my skin is usually in pretty good condition but that I have fallen victim to mask-induced acne (aka “maskne”) on my chin. Naydenov told me she’s seen many clients with this condition and the best course of action would be a bespoke treatment that combines elements of the brand’s anti-ageing Celestial Black Diamond Non-Surgical Face Lift Facial and its Clarity Anti-Blemish one. This would help to calm the inflammation while also sculpting my face.

After a double cleanse, Naydenov applied an enzyme peel to remove any dead skin cells that could be causing congestion, and it was very comfortable – only tingling slightly. Next came facial massage to not only sculpt the natural contours of the face but to relax any underlying tension and remove toxins. Cryotherapy globes were then used to help tackle my maskne. “Bacteria doesn’t like the cold,” Naydenov told me, “so the globes will reduce the inflammation.”

This was followed by the application of geltextured Bio Cellulose Treatment Mask on my face, to stimulate collagen production, and Celestial Black Diamond Lifting and Firming Neck Mask, which uses a biomimetic peptide to sculpt the area. The treatment finished with application of an eye cream and face cream.

The verdict: My skin looked rejuvenated and the inflammation around my maskne massively reduced. However, the real results came three days later when my spots had drastically shrunk in size, leaving my skin looking healthy and happy.

Business benefits: The results of 111Skin’s formulas show in its treatments, which can be adapted for all skin concerns, offering a bespoke service. The products can also be retailed so clients can keep up the results in-between appointments.

Tried by Amanda Pauley 111Skin recommends charging from £250–£300 for the 60-minute treatment. Call the brand on 020 8103 9111brand on 020 8500 9028
