Lanserhof plots UK expansion as Sheila McCann takes the helm

// Natural Spa Factory has launched face and body treatments to help alleviate the symptoms associated with periods, menopause and pregnancy. The “I Am Woman” collection includes three treatments – Woman:Kind, Pause:Me and Passenger On Board – designed to “normalise the typically taboo conversation surrounding periods and menopause”.

// The Bannatyne Group has opened a new spa at its Shrewsbury health club, following a £650,000 investment. The spa features 10 treatment beds, a manicure and pedicure area, and relaxation space with heated loungers and water beds.

// Ark Skincare, Pevonia and All That Jazz were among the professional brands that won at the 2018 Beauty Shortlist Awards. Ark took home four awards, including Best Cleanser Age 30+ for Age Defend Conditioning Cleanser, while Pevonia won two, including Best Eye Remedy for Eye Renew Conceal & De-Age Treatment. All That Jazz won Best Nail Brand.

// A £1.3 million beauty salon and bistro is set to open in North Staffordshire this October, creating 54 jobs. Beauty and The Bistro in Basford will offer facials, massages, tanning, waxing, laser hair removal and a mud chamber, alongside a stylish eatery and cocktail bar.

// Kirkcaldy, Scotland, salon Pouts and Pinups won three awards at the Fife Retail Business Awards. Owner Stacey Whittaker and her team accepted the award for Best Fife Beauty Salon, Best Makeup Salon and Best Business.

Spa pro Sheila McCann has joined health and medical resort specialist Lanserhof UK as country general manager to spearhead its UK growth.

McCann will initially head up two UK sites for the group’s growing portfolio. One will be a new medical gym in partnership with London private members’ club The Arts Club, which will blend a personalised approach to wellness with holistic methods and state-of-the-art diagnostics. It is due to open later this year.

The other is the existing Grayshott Health Spa in Surrey, which Lanserhof acquired last August. The group plans to refurbish the site and boost its medical wellness offering.

McCann joins from the renowned Chiva-Som spa in Thailand where she was general manager. Talking about her appointment, McCann said: “Lanserhof UK is a truly unique opportunity for me to translate, shape and establish a proven concept and brand into a new market.”

McCann has more than 35 years’ industry experience and has worked for leading spa brands including Shangri-La. She is also a founding member of the International Health and Wellness Alliance.
