Professional Beauty Regional Awards open for entries

in brief

// Therapist Charlotte Elston from Stanley House Hotel and Spa in Mellor has returned from a three-month sabbatical to South East Asia, designed to expand her skillset. Elston gained a qualification in Thai foot reflexology and took courses in Balinese massage, therapeutic oil blending and Hawaiian lomi-lomi.

// The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) will be the platinum sponsor of the Complementary Therapy Awards, which opens for entries this month. The awards are organised by Chamberlain Dunn, which already runs the Advancing Healthcare Awards, and aim to further the integrated healthcare agenda.

// Pro brand Norvell has added an extra date to its spray tan training due to popular demand. Therapists can attend the extra one-day course in Newcastle on April 23, which covers theory and practical application. Attendees will also receive a Norvell VIP Card, saving them 15% on retail products. Places can be booked via distributor JK Group.

// Danish skincare brand True North has launched a UK website. UK customers will now be able to go online to purchase the brand’s 12 face and body products, which focus on delivering clinically proven results while dealing with major skin complaints. Founder Jan Behrens is a medical research specialist.

// Salon supplier Hive celebrated its 25th anniversary in March. The company has recently updated its branding and manufactures warm, crème and hot waxes, wax heaters, pre and post-wax products and waxing accessories. Hive launched in 1993 with a beehive-inspired wax heater and “honey” waxes

The Professional Beauty Regional Awards 2018 will open for entries on April 4, giving spas and salons from across the UK the chance to set themselves apart from their local competitors and prove they are the best in their area

The awards launched in 2016 to recognise businesses from every region of the UK that excel in customer service, treatment delivery and innovation. Entries are open to spas, boutique salons (with three treatment rooms or fewer) and large salons (four rooms or more), across seven regions: South East, South West and Wales, North East, North West, Midlands, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in Manchester on October 21.

Winners and particularly high-scoring finalists from the Regional Awards will then automatically reach the finals of the national Professional Beauty Awards for 2019. This means that to enter the national Professional Beauty Awards (held in London in February 2019), spas and salons must enter the Professional Beauty Regional Awards 2018.
