EDITOR’S COMMENT
Making beauty and spa treatments accessible to all has been high on the agenda of most beauty professionals for some years, with huge strides being made to break down barriers to treatment for people going through cancer, and advances in training to make sure therapists are equipped to treat all skin tones and hair types.
This month, our hot topic feature explores additional routes to inclusivity as Jamie-Lee Jones shares her advice for making treatment spaces and protocols welcoming for neurodiverse clients via adjustments to noise, lighting and facilities. Read her advice on page 78.
In our lead interview this issue, PB Award-winning therapist Hayley Snishko shares her experiences of the powerful effect that massage can have on clients who are experiencing mental health issues and outlines techniques to safeguard your own mental wellbeing as a therapist, as well as that of your clients.
We also take a closer look at some trending skincare topics this month, from the rise of miniproteins (see page 70) to the growing popularity of facial sculpting; our feature on page 50 explores how to blend devices, tools and touch for lifting and toning face treatments. We also speak to the experts about the booming K-beauty market, examining the key ingredients and techniques used in Korean beauty and how they fit into professional skin services on page 74.
Meanwhile, it’s almost time for the biggest industry event of the year, and Professional Beauty London 2025 will see some exciting changes. We’ve got a brand-new PB Live Lounge on the show floor – think a live version of our Pro Beauty Pod podcast – where we’ll be interviewing major industry names including Dominic Skinner, Caroline Hirons and Shea Osei, who did the nails for the blockbuster Wicked movie. Our other stages will also be back bigger and better than ever and of course there will be a whole range of exciting brand and product launches. Check out the full line-up from page 57 onwards. See you there on March 2–3!
