Content writer Lollie Hancock was invited to Final Checks Makeup and Hair Academy’s summer open day to learn more about the academy and attend masterclasses from leading make-up artists. The day began with a glam masterclass from make-up educator and Glow Up star Dolli Glam, followed by a special effects tutorial with TV and film SFX specialist Robbie Drake. Glow Up winner Yong-chin Breslin also ran a session all about building colour, with hairstylist Shamara Roper and MUA Astrid Kearney also running demonstrations on the main room floor and founder Danielle Everitt on hand to help with any questions.

Deputy editor Kezia Parkins visited Bio Sculpture for a conversion course. The trainer on the day was Bio Sculpture educator Nicola Barlow. Kezia learned about all the different nail treatments that can be applied in a small square before the base to cater to various nail problems, as well as the different bases for every nail type. During lunch, learners got a tour of the warehouse, where all orders are packed by a small team. They also got to see the brand’s new shade Verde before its launch, which we predict will be a hot shade for AW23. Already a trained nail tech, Kezia left confident to provide Bio Sculpture manicures focusing on nail health and already planning a return for one of Re:new’s free refresher courses, which are ideal for anyone wanting to top up their skills.

Denise van Outen was introduced as the new brand ambassador for Potenza by Cynosure at Thérapie Clinics during a press event at London’s St Martin’s Lane Hotel. Cynosure clinical trainer Krishna Sonagra announced the collaboration before Denise shared her experiences with Cynosure’s Potenza device, telling attendees that her make-up artist immediately noticed a difference in the texture and radiance of her skin following her first session. Anna Dobbie, editor of PB’s sister title Aesthetic Medicine, went along to learn more about the radiofrequency microneedling device and grab a selfie with Denise.
