SPA AND WELLNESS TRENDS for 2025

Staying ahead of emerging trends is crucial for spa professionals – here are our top picks for the year ahead

From immersive multi-sensory relaxation and community-focused workouts to a renewed focus on human touch, the top spa trends for 2025 reflect shifting priorities of spa guests.

1. Superfood skincare and supplements

Superfood ingredients are making waves in both beauty and wellness. Mushrooms, green tea and fermented beans are becoming staples in skincare, thanks to their natural, nutrient-rich properties.

Korean skincare brands have embraced these ingredients, driving demand for innovative, nature-based products. Social media buzz, particularly on TikTok, highlights the popularity of superfoods, with #KBeauty amassing over 769k posts in 2024, according to Boots.

Expect spas to integrate superfood-infused treatments, appealing to eco-conscious clients.

Meanwhile, functional mushrooms like lion’s mane and superfood supplements such as bee pollen are gaining traction, according to Bupa. While lion’s mane is celebrated for its potential cognitive and stress-reducing benefits, bee pollen is linked to improved metabolism and reduced inflammation. Although more research is needed to validate these claims, spas are likely to incorporate these ingredients into wellness programmes, teas and smoothies for a holistic experience.

2. The magnesium boom

Magnesium remains a wellness powerhouse into 2025. With TikTok hashtags garnering over a billion views, the mineral’s popularity spans from supplements to topical applications like sprays and lotions.

Known for its ability to support muscle function, reduce stress and boost energy, magnesium is set to become a must-have in spas. Look out for magnesium-infused massages and therapies that enhance recovery.

3. Hydration-focused treatments

The obsession with hydration will continue into 2025, driven by viral trends like “skin flooding”. This technique, which involves layering hydrating products for maximum moisture retention, underscores the importance of hyaluronic acid as a hero ingredient.

Spas are incorporating hydrating facials and body wraps that mimic the benefits of skin flooding, ensuring clients leave with deeply moisturised and glowing skin.

4. Group workouts make a comeback

The fitness landscape is shifting as group workouts regain popularity. Hot Pilates, barre and sling bungee are among the trending classes according to Bupa, providing a sense of community and accountability that solo workouts lack.

Spas and wellness centres can capitalise on this trend by offering group fitness sessions in tranquil settings, blending exercise with relaxation.

5. Natural skincare

Minimalism meets sustainability as natural skincare features in predicted beauty trends for the remainder of 2025. With over 13.3 million social media mentions in 2024 according to online retailer Cult Beauty, consumers are seeking organic and sustainable alternatives to traditional products. Spas are responding with natural beauty offerings and eco-friendly treatments that focus on plant-based ingredients and biodegradable packaging.

6. The rise of period and cycle tracking

Empowering clients to connect with their bodies, menstrual cycle tracking apps and devices are gaining momentum. These tools help users understand hormonal patterns and their effects on mood, skin and overall health. Spas can explore workshops or treatments tailored to the phases of the menstrual cycle, providing personalised care that resonates with this growing trend.

7. Probiotic wellness

Gut health remains a priority for holistic wellness enthusiasts. Sales of probiotic supplements continue to rise as consumers recognise the connection between gut health and overall wellbeing, with probiotics also trending on social media – it had over 7m total searches across TikTok, Pinterest and Instagram in 2024.

Incorporating probiotics into spa menus – whether in the form of wellness drinks, dietary consultations or probiotic-infused skincare products – offers a unique approach to inside-out health.

8. Menopause-friendly wellness solutions

With searches for menopause-related treatments and diets on the rise, spas are addressing the needs of perimenopausal and menopausal clients.

Customised nutrition plans, hormonebalancing treatments and exercises to combat weight gain and bone loss are predicted to become integral parts of wellness programmes.

9. Detox diets get a makeover

Detox diets and cleanses are trending again, but this time with more scrutiny. Instead of extreme juice fasts, expect spas to promote balanced detox programmes that include nourishing meals, herbal teas, and gentle detoxifying treatments like lymphatic drainage massages.

Dr Samantha Wild, women’s health clinical lead and GP at Bupa Health Clinics, adds, “If you’re looking to make a change to your lifestyle, make choices that are scientifically backed, right for you and proven to help over the long term.

“If you’re concerned about your health, whether it be your weight or menstrual cycle, your first port of call should always be a health professional, and not trying the latest fad.”

10. Multi-sensory relaxation and personal touch

“As guests increasingly seek deep relaxation, spas are enhancing their offerings with multi-sensory experiences and a renewed emphasis on the human touch,” says Gemma Barratt, group spa director at Daniel Thwaites.

Barratt says that the spas can incorporate sound baths and curated playlists to elevate relaxation and improve mental wellbeing. Zoned relaxation spaces can be designed for visual and auditory tranquillity, featuring headphones, calming soundscapes and immersive visuals for a personalised experience.

Meanwhile, therapist-led personalisation ensures treatments are tailored to each guest’s preferences through strong therapist-guest relationships, enhancing both results and emotional connection.
