Guests were also gifted the brand’s latest product launch, the Multivitamin Power Recovery Cream.
Germaine de Capuccini discovery day
Glass House Retreat, Essex
Germaine de Capuccini is now Glass House Retreat’s exclusive skincare partner. To celebrate, the brand invited press including PB editor Eve Oxberry, to learn more about the facials and experience one for themselves. After a grazing lunch and smoothies, Germaine de Capuccini’s business development manager Angela Lack and Glass House Retreat’s spa manager Bethany Cable talked guests through the brand’s ranges before therapist Anzelika Volkova demonstrated a signature facial and a range of massage tools. Next it was time for guests to experience a mini facial for themselves and use the spa. After dinner, there was a relaxing sound bath before bed, aiding a restful sleep.
Survive and Thrive with the NHBF
Electric Space, London
An initiative to support its members through the new challenges being raised by the 2024 Autumn Budget, the National Hair and Beauty Federation launched its Survive and Thrive campaign. To introduce the programme, the federation invited members and press, including PB editorial assistant Erin Leybourne, to a networking event with educational panels. The event kicked off with networking time, where attendees got involved with six interactive stations around the space that initiated conversation. After this, they watched two panel discussions on hot topics in the industry, including rising costs of National Insurance contributions and apprenticeships, ending with questions from the audience.
Professional Beauty Awards live judging
London School of Beauty & Makeup, and Fashion Retail Academy, London
This year, three out of the nine categories in the Professional Beauty Awards involved a live judging day, where our expert judges observed the finalists at work. Entrants who made the shortlist for the Nail Professional of the Year category came to Fashion Retail Academy, to show their skills in enhancements, nail art and more.
Meanwhile finalists for both the Therapist and Electrologist of the Year (sponsored by Elite Probes) categories were invited to London School of Beauty & Makeup. Electrologists performed blemish removal treatments live, while the Therapist finalists showed their expertise in a range face and body therapies. All three categories also involved interviews to find out more about the finalists before the judges submitted their final scores. Winners will be revealed on the awards night on March 2 in London.
Philosophia Botanica gua sha Masterclass
The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Park Lane London
To celebrate the launch of Philosophia Botanica becoming a brand partner of the Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Park Lane London, the hotel held a gua sha masterclass breakfast hosted by the brand’s founder, Francesca Canzano-Franklin, and PB deputy editor Kezia Parkins was invited to go along. Each place setting was complete with its own gua sha workstation, including the tool itself, some botanical oils and a meridian acupuncture face map.
Kezia found it was fascinating to hear about Canzano-Franklin’s background and interest in traditional Chinese medicine and to learn how to use this tool from an expert, as there is so much conflicting information on social media.
Guests also learned about magnetism which can be used similarly to acupuncture and involves sticking tiny gold magnetic pearls on the pressure points. It was a great introduction to this sort of holistic ritual, before they tried the brand’s Gold Pearl Facial.

The event, which had a silver-themed dress code, helped the brand to reintroduce its high-performance products designed to elevate professional and at-home skincare routines.
