Have you ever broken up with a client?
@perfectwaxing_canarywharf: “Yes. After lockdown I started to filter my customer base and tidy up regularly. I do attract anywhere between 25 and 56 new clients every month but I also let go people that are not suitable for my business.”
The Nail Artist.ni: “I’ve had to do this on numerous occasions for my mental health. Sometimes you just get clients that surround themselves with negativity and they bring that negativity to every appointment. When you start to get anxiety before they arrive to their appointment that’s when you know you have to cut them off.”
This month we asked you…
Do you make nutrition or supplement recommendations for clients’ skin?
48% Yes, I make recommendations
4% Yes, I have a nutritionist on my team
39% No, but I would consider it
9% No, I don’t think it’s relevant

Do you think acrylic nails are due a comeback?
@mani.science: “Definitely worth considering as an option. Although acrylics do require the correct ratio of powder to liquid monomer being correct to initiate and allow sufficient polymerise, all depths of the product applied will polymerise, and there will be less risk of unpolymerised layers in contact with the nail plate. However, there is still a risk of exposure of monomer to the skin if the product isn’t applied correctly. With gel nail products, the safe wear of the product relies heavily on correct product thickness, lamps, pigment containment etc. Both have their pros and drawbacks! ”
@sarahsokhiskin: “I still offer acrylic; it definitely still has its place for some heavy-handed clients and longer extensions. Most of my clients currently have builder gel or gel polish.”

What does the Autumn Budget mean for your business?
Perfect Beauty by Zoe Hopps: “It’s not very good, this one. Mind you, are any?”
Serenity Holistic Therapies: “No budget is ever a good one for everyone… I think there will be more shocks in the next budget ”
@tracey_ann_collin: “Absurd. It’s destroying small businesses and reducing job opportunities. Our industry is offering services that are primarily a luxury and not a necessity, even if we go down the ‘wellbeing’ avenue. Increasing our costs to reflect the outgoing costs will risk a loss in footfall and a faster approach to VAT should we remain busy (in an industry that is primarily service based and therefore unable to claim back the VAT needed to survive). “There will be many redundancies and closure of businesses, less room for growth unless we are not employing and looking at the self-employed route, which will not allow us to make the business our own.”
