We take a look inside PB’s digital world

Hot Topic

Have you received training on spotting signs of skin cancer on clients?

Catherine Matthews, co-founder, Spa Bottom Treatment Room, Harrogate: “Yes, all our therapists have done the Skcin early detection course and the advanced course. We also have done a dermoscopy course and have successfully advised many clients to have lesions checked by a medical professional – many of whom have had surgery to remove lesions we spotted that they were unaware of having! This is such an important topic to look into for any therapist.”

Whose responsibility is client education?

Janice Nicoll, owner, De-Stress, Clydebank: “It’s up to us to inform our clients about the products we’re using on them.”

Debbie Wilson, owner, Polished Nail and Beauty Boutique, Marske by the Sea: “It’s our duty as professionals to educate our clients continually in order to build a trusting relationship and help them to understand why it’s essential they visit reputable, qualified and knowledgeable therapists .”

Elaine White, owner, Meadow Lounge Beauty Retreat, Somerset: “We have a duty as professionals to educate and inform our clients. As professional therapists we also have a duty to train with reputable companies that help us to pass on this knowledge to our clients.”

Lorna Malkin, nail technician, Lorna Marie Nails, Rugeley: “I believe you build that relationship with your clients and you naturally educate them. I am continuously educating my clients right from the very first appointment to this day now that they are still coming to me.”

Lindsey Marcella, founder, Salt of the Earth Skin, USA: “It is 100% our responsibility. It’s the Wild West out there for clients to choose from and our level of education is our reputation. If I don’t do my job properly educating my clients, that could mean the difference between them receiving the best care for their skin health or having it irreversibly damaged by someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. I can’t sleep at night knowing that clients could be going to the wrong person and be misinformed about their skin health.”

PB Awards 2023: True Medispa wins Skin Clinic of the Year

Sarah Tipple, hair and beauty specialist, The STC Group: “Well done @truemedispa_twickenham

Was a fantastic night. Really privileged to have been there with the @hairandbeautystc team ”
