Customisable technology-led treatments, and relaxing rituals top the launch list this month
Lumenis NuEra Tight
The NuEra Tight from Lumenis offers customisable, personalised body treatments, using FocalRF technology, which features five different frequencies to control the depth of energy penetration. The customisable treatment, with eight electrodes ranging from 20 to 100mm for all areas of the body, is suitable for a range of concerns including fat reduction, skin tightening, cellulite, and wrinkle reduction. The device can target the optimal tissue depth to treat varying conditions, using different target temperatures from maximum results.
The NuLogic technology provides an advanced treatment protocol, allowing for multiple treatment protocols in one session. Lumenis vice president Claire Dubowski said: “It’s a brilliant device because you can treat so many areas and concerns with a single machine.” The recommended treatment course is six sessions, with treatments lasting between 10 and 40 minutes.
Lumenis recommends charging from £150, dependent on the treatment area. 020 8736 4110 / lumenis.co.uk
Thalgo Mer Des Indes ritual
The French skincare brand has collaborated with Nordine Meguelatti, an expert in Ayurveda and the science of marmas, to create Mer Des Indes. The two-hour harmonising ritual is derived from marmatherapy – an Ayurvedic approach that works on points of energy blockage, and combines rebalancing manoeuvres, hatha yoga stretches and music by composer Thomas Madrid. Specific musical frequencies, in harmony with the different steps in the treatment protocol, encourage clients to let go and meditate.
The ritual has five steps. First is a welcome ceremony in which scented oshiboris purifies hands and feet before a head neck and shoulder massage. Next comes a milk bath with head massage and mindful meditation, then a Ginger Scrub followed by the harmonising massage inspired by marmatherapy.
The treatment concludes with gentle rocking and stretching movements followed by an Infus’Océanes Sérénité herbal tea tasting.
Thalgo recommends charging £120 for the two-hour treatment or £100 for a 90-minute version without the bath. 020 7512 0872 / thalgo.co.uk

Elemis Pro-Glow Cryo Sculpt Facial
The lowdown: The British skincare brand has launched an upgraded version of its popular Biotec device, which now harnesses the power of cryotherapy – Subzero CryO2 Therapy – alongside advanced light therapy, microcurrent, ultrasonic peel and galvanic infusions. To coincide with the Biotec 2.0 launch, Elemis has developed a menu of 11 Pro-Glow Facials that target everything from anti-ageing to blemish-fighting, to showcase how customisable the device can be.
The experience: I headed to the brand’s flagship, The House of Elemis in London, to experience the new Biotec 2.0 device with therapist Joe Royal. After an informative SkinLab consultation to discuss my skin needs, Royal told me I would experience the Pro-Glow Cryo Sculpt Facial, which uses sub-zero cryotherapy –a first for the brand – to tighten the skin and improve the appearance of fine lines.
From the off, I could tell the treatment was next level, with some standout moments. The first piece of technology I experienced was the seven-minute ultrasonic peel, which worked on deep cleansing my skin, with Royal working upwards to help with decongestion and texture issues; while for the LED light therapy segment, he used a seven-in-one light therapy mask, which beamed out yellow light to remove toxins and improve overall skin health.
However, the cryotherapy element was the most impressive part. After applying the Ultra-Smart Pro-Collagen Aqua Infusion Mask, Royal used the cold metal wand to sculpt my face for 15 minutes, delivering tightness and promoting circulation in the lower layers of the skin. Therapists can choose from three different temperature settings – Cool (in the plus degrees), Cold (edging closer to zero) and Sub-Zero (in the minus) – depending on clients’ skin needs and thickness. I had the cool due to the sensitivity I suffer with along my jaw line.
The cryotherapy was cold but completely manageable, and the only time I felt it was edging towards too much was on my forehead because the skin is much thinner there. However, Royal constantly asked how I was managing throughout and was happy to stop at any point if I needed too .
Straight after the cryotherapy came the oxygen element, with the two working well in tandem. The cryotherapy cools, soothes, and tightens, while the oxygen penetrates the product deeper into the skin using 97% compressed air.
The verdict: My skin was really glowing afterwards, with the benefits of cool therapy immediately apparent. As someone who has never had cryotherapy before, Royal’s treatment, along with his informative skincare knowledge, has converted me.
Business benefits: Biotec 2.0 is a great way to upgrade your menu and entice in clients – both old and new – to try cold therapy for the first time, and explain how it can work alongside the other technologies they have regularly. For therapists, having so many technologies in one device makes customising facials on the spot so much easier, with the process much more seamless.
