“No make-up” make-up

Trend inspiration:

Barely-there make-up continues to grow in popularity and is now giving a nod to the athleisure trend with its reinvented look – modern nude with pushed up brows.

Radiant, athletic skin teamed with undone, statement brows, was showcased on the Blumarine MFW AW17 catwalk, finished with a touch of gloss on lids for a delicate glimmer.

Meanwhile, Antonio Berardi’s AW17 catwalk at London Fashion Week (LFW) showcased dewy skin with untamed brows that oozed sophistication. Lips were topped with clear balm.

Make-up artist top tips:

Rachael Keeley, lead make-up artist for High Definition, says this is perfect for clients who want to rock simple party make-up. However, it’s all about technique. “Build the look in light layers and don’t over powder as you want that dewy finish”, says Keeley. “Flush peachy tones through the eyes, lips and cheeks, and add just a touch of product to the brows.”

Keeley shows us how to do this minimal look on clients using High Definition products…

GET THE LOOK

Day…

1. Use a hydrating primer then buff on a lightweight foundation, such as High Definition’s Fluid Foundation in Sand

2. Using a domed make-up sponge, pat the face to work in product and tap out any creasing

3. Set base with a lightweight finishing powder but only dust down the centre of the face to “keep the cheeks nice and dewy”, says Keeley

4. Sweep a light-to-medium bronzer in a figure-three motion around the forehead, below the cheekbone and along the jawline for definition

5. Dust sheer illuminating powder onto the high points of the face – brow bone, cheekbones, bridge of the nose and Cupid’s bow – to add radiance

6. Using a fluffy blush, apply a peach shade blusher on eye sockets to give subtle shape then apply a neutral brow highlighter onto the waterline

7. Use one coat of black mascara to create natural, feathery lashes

8. Brush brows up to create that messy and textured look, filling in gaps with hair-like strokes using a dark brown pencil, before setting with a clear gel

9. Finish with peach lip gloss.

…to night

1. Sweep a brown eyeliner, such as High Definition’s Kajal in Rich Brown, onto the waterline to create definition

2. Then, apply liner to the top lash line, starting from the middle and sweeping out

3. Blend with a smudging brush to create a soft, sultry finish.
