Hot Topic

Is it better to hire juniors and train them, or only hire experienced therapists?

Polished: “Either can work out, it depends on your situation at the time of hiring. For example, we were looking for an experienced therapist and had an application from a junior who we saw huge potential in, she was quick to learn, and it’s been lovely nurturing her and seeing her grow in confidence.”

@winkbeautyldn: “Best of both worlds! Hire experienced therapists who can hit the ground running and keep the business running smoothly while also investing the time they are helping you save to train up young, passionate juniors to deliver your services the way that you want them done 🙌❤.”

@helford_beauty: “Depends on the person and how in love with their job they are❤.”

Hot Topic

Is staff retention more about pay, or workplace culture?

Jamie-Lee Jones: “I don’t think staff retention is about choosing pay or culture. It’s both, as they must work together. Pay is the foundation. If someone feels they aren’t being paid fairly then they won’t stay, no matter how nice the environment is. What really makes people stay is how they feel coming into work every day.”

Natasha Britton: “Pay gets you in the game. If wages, commission, targets and rotas feel unfair, people will leave, even if they like you. Culture is what keeps them. The key is clarity and consistency. Clear standards, communication, proper onboarding, weekly feedback, fair treatment, growth and training, and a team environment not just all about work, where people feel respected and safe to speak up.”

42% Word of mouth

35% Social media

19% Client referrals

4% Reviews

You had your say…

Does raising prices risk losing loyal clients – or attract better ones?

@nourishskinwellbeing: “Yes, you may lose a few clients when you raise prices, but in my experience, you often gain the right ones. You attract those who are seeking your USP, not just a treatment at the same cost they can get elsewhere. When pricing reflects the level of care, experience and outcomes I deliver, it draws in clients who are invested in their skin long term and who truly value what I do." @revitalize__clinic: “Definitely attracts better ones .”

Katrina Murray: “If your clients are as loyal as you think they are, they will understand why you have price increases. And the ones that go and find somewhere else weren’t that loyal to start with.”
