May proved a positive month for spas, with over half of you reporting better treatment and retail business. Treatment room occupancy remained steady at 77% (only down 2% from April’s figures), showing consistent demand. Increasing profits is at the heart of a successful business plan, and there are many strategies to do this. According to our survey, the most effective methods are seasonal promotions (with 68% of you offering these), introducing new treatments (64%) and upselling add-on services during appointments (41%).

Of the 68% of you who have introduced new treatments to boost profits, some have tapped into the growing interest in traditional medicine and holistic practices.
