EDITOR’S COMMENT

The rise of the skincare-obsessed tween seems to have happened almost overnight, with kids aged 9-12 increasingly taking an interest in products and active ingredients demonstrated on social media, particularly TikTok. I thought my own 12-year-old niece was going to pass out from excitement when I passed on a (carefully edited!) selection of my skincare favourites to her recently.

But while an interest in skin health from a young age is no bad thing, sometimes children’s main sources of education on the topic are not the most reliable – or age appropriate.

So, how can skin professionals help tweens and their parents to cut through the noise and access advice and products that will work for them, without losing the sense of fun and fashion that drew them to skincare in the first place? Our feature on page 86 investigates.

Social media trends are also driving a lot of the nail and make-up looks we’re set to see in the months ahead, although iconic TV shows and movies are also playing a major part. The “mob wife” aesthetic, popularised by shows such as Netflix’s Griselda, is huge right now, for example, while standout catwalk shows are also influencing some more avant-garde looks as we head into spring.

To stay ahead of the curve, check out our deep dive into the nail trends (page 67) and make-up looks (page 80) that clients will be asking for this season.

Meanwhile, if brows are your passion, don’t miss our interview on page 61 with rising brow star Sophia Aziza who tells us how she bagged an A-list client base as her signature style and technique began to attract more attention on social media.

Wherever your beauty passion lies, we hope you find the trends and advice you need to take it to the next step.
