BARBOUR

As we head into the crucial Christmas period, the good news is that business seems to be picking up for many of you this year, with over half of you reporting better treatment business this October compared to last. This follows new research which found that Brits are set to spend £3.1 billion on pre-Christmas beauty and hair treatments, and almost a quarter of that survey’s respondents said they planned to spend more than last year (read more on page 11).

Another recent survey of 1,000 female beauty consumers found that 59% didn’t know if their chosen beauty therapist was insured or even qualified, and 60% didn’t know how to do a background check on salons before visiting. This lack of consumer awareness is borne out in this month’s Insider survey too, with only 18% of you ever having had clients ask for proof of your qualifications.
