EDITOR’S COMMENT

As we prepare for reopening, I know beauty businesses across the UK have used the downtime over recent weeks to train their teams, fine-tune their treatment menus and spruce up their premises.

Here at Professional Beauty, you’ll have seen a lot of our faces on camera, hosting our free daily Upskills webinars to keep the industry motivated during this time, but we’ve also been busy behind the scenes, preparing to relaunch the magazine this month.

Our contemporary new look has been designed to reflect the current and original content we deliver, and timed to help inject some excitement and newness into the market. We hope you love it as much as we do.

As salons and spas get back to business, we’re also excited to open entries for the Professional Beauty Awards 2021. What better time to give your business the much-needed boost that reaching the finals of the awards can bring? Find out about this year’s categories and how to enter on page 23.

With business across the UK revisiting their policies and procedures ahead of opening, we also take an in-depth look at the issues surrounding HIV in the beauty and spa industry, including the training and discrimination issues to consider in order to make all clients feel welcome. Find out more on page 62.

Staff contracts are also an important focus this month, as the pandemic and extended closures have brought about changes to employment law. David Wright gives us the lowdown on how this affects salons on page 70.

However you’re preparing for reopening, we hope this issue gives the tools you need to come back with a bang.
