Making sure your treatments are inclusive to everyone is important, which is why a quarter of your techs (25%) are trained to deliver services to clients whose nails are damaged by chemotherapy Personalisation is also key, which is why many of you adapt your services for mature clients, whether you pair a manicure with an advanced treatment for the hands like microdermabrasion (22%) or use products that are better for thinner skin (30%).

As we look towards the time when salons and spas can reopen, many of you are predicting what you think the most popular nail shape for the year will be, with squoval (35%) coming out top, followed closely by almond (17%), oval (14%) and coffin (6%).

METHODOLOGY Insider is compiled from a monthly survey of spas and beauty salons. The people who participated represent a cross-section of the industry and were polled by email from January 4–12, regarding business for the month to December 31. Nail business for the Insider Nails page was calculated from data provided by salons that offer nail services among other treatments. The figures given represent the average score for each answer. Brands are ranked when mentioned by several respondents.
