Consumers more likely to self-diagnose skin conditions than see a professional

Florence Decca commented: “There is a massive gap where consumers are lost and feel overwhelmed in a plethora of contradictory information – condition or no condition. Sadly, dermatologists aren’t accessible to all, especially for milder skin conditions. The solution needs to include good, experienced skin therapists and dermatologists working together to provide an accessible alternative.”

Guest blog: are college courses equipping therapists with the skills employers need?

Jolene Young commented: “I work for a college and we do the absolute best we can around the curriculum we get. The students work on fee-paying clients, we have added in retail targets, there are work placement units for two levels, and trade testing where employers come in to observe and view the students. However, I do think some scrutiny needs to be placed on one-day courses. They are brilliant as an add-on but if someone only completes these courses then they will never get the same education or experience that is offered by a college.”
