April delivered a mixed but resilient picture for salon businesses, with a third (33%) reporting stronger treatment revenue compared with April last year. While some salons experienced softer trading conditions, average treatment room occupancy remained at 57%.
Technology is becoming a growing area of interest across the industry. When asked about AI in salon operations, 43% said it could be useful for administrative tasks but not for the client experience itself, suggesting owners are keen to streamline behind-the-scenes operations while keeping personal connection at the heart of their business. A further 31% are still exploring the possibilities.
Interestingly, only 18% believe sustainability initiatives directly influence booking decisions, indicating that while eco-conscious practices matter, clients still prioritise results and service.
