The results from this month’s spa survey point to a sector focused on sustainable growth, valuing staff and putting guest satisfaction at its core.

Over half of spa leaders (56%) believe retail sales should be part of the therapist role, but only when staff are given the right training and support, highlighting an emphasis on empowering teams rather than applying pressure. Another 22% say selling should be optional, while just 10% view it as a non-negotiable responsibility.

On pricing, 39% feel spa treatments are still set too low across the industry, suggesting growing awareness of the need to protect value.

And when it comes to therapist performance, guest experience takes centre stage, with client satisfaction (46%) and rebookings/retention (44%) far outweighing technical ability alone.
