Do you need a big social media following to be successful?
@kehsbeautystudio:
“A big following is a nice to have but a thriving business? Even better! I measure success in returning clients, client feedback and trust built. Social media helps but it’s only one piece of the puzzle . It’s results and connection that keep people coming back .”
@polishedmarske:
“While it’s nice to have lots of followers this doesn’t equate to success, we use social media to connect with our community and showcase our services and team, but real success is building strong client relationships, offering exceptional services and having a welcoming, friendly, inclusive salon, with a knowledgeable team.”
@thepiercingdistrict:
“While a large following gives the impression of being successful, unless they visit and spend money, the following is not of much use. You could have 10k followers but if you're in a service industry you're better off with a smaller following that gets services from you. This may be different if you're monetising your content but for most people it's a chance to attract clients.”

Should you refund an unhappy client?
@helford_beauty:
“It’s a difficult one. It depends what they are unhappy about. If the treatment was carried out without diligence then yes, but if they had unrealistic expectations or are blatantly trying to get a free treatment out of you then no.”
@beautybusinessdoctor:
“If a client expresses unhappiness at the end of a service, I wouldn’t automatically issue a refund. Instead, I listen carefully to understand the concern, validate their feelings, and explore immediate corrective solutions. Refunds should be a last resort, guided by clear service policies and after demonstrating that every effort was made to rectify the situation.”

Has online learning killed beauty industry standards?
Krystal Prince, owner of salon The Glamour Room, discusses the importance of in-person training.
@bychloeaitken:
“The standard of online courses is the problem rather than the ability to offer them. The ability to learn in the comfort of your home has become fundamental for people to produce their best work .”
Oxford International College of Beauty:
“Training focused on practical skills is hard to do online. This industry requires a lot of care and client interaction which is best learnt around real people. Hopefully we will see a return to specialist colleges where people dedicate time to learning the basics and work up through the levels 🙌.”
