Should the beauty and spa industry do more to target male clients?
@thebeautysalon.castlecary: “For sure! We have a lot of male clients but some are still hesitant due to factors of stigma. .”
@faceandbodyderby: “Absolutely! Beauty and self-care are for everyone, regardless of gender. We’re proud to welcome and serve our male clients, helping them look and feel their best. The industry should continue breaking stereotypes and promoting self-care as a necessity for all.”
@skinlogicexpert: “We have a huge percentage of men in clinic as they can see from our social media and marketing we offer a safe space. We present it as not unusual for men to receive treatments. The male grooming industry is massive and if you don’t promote you are missing out on huge revenue.”
Simply Beautiful Beauty & Day Spa: “Male clients are approximately one third of our clientele and we plan on building on this in the future . Fantastic to see males come on board and look after their skin and wellbeing.”

If you could change one thing about the beauty industry, what would you change?
Nicole Day-Mundanelli: “We need to talk about salon bosses and treatment of staff. I don’t know any therapist that hasn’t (at some point in their career) worked for a narcissistic boss, been treated like rubbish, put in situations they don’t feel comfortable. I feel that’s why there’s been a shift to self-employment over the past few years.”
Zena Hailey: “Being tempted into unsociable hours. having to be unjudgy about strong judgemental opinions. People making money out of half-day courses. It's pretty minor, other than that I love it .”
@phabservicestars: “Businesses to collaborate more with each other. So many businesses have areas where they’re very robust and need help in other areas. By collaborating, the support they could give each other would improve and strengthen both businesses.”
@lizasmithnails “I’d love for today’s beauty pros to have the education I had in the '80s. How can 5 days a week for 3 years equate to a few dozen hours today?”
This month we asked you…
Do you believe clients are becoming more educated about beauty and spa?
27%
Yes, they know a lot now!
70%
Somewhat, but there’s still misinformation
3%
No, I still have to educate

Red and green flags in beauty training courses
@alison_haynes_skin_clinic: “I literally just posted about this today – the difference between qualifications and CPD. Keep educating! .”
@ruffstuffscrub: “ yes to all. Time, patience, practice and real-life experience are key. I don’t believe in being pigeonholed into only using a specific brand either, especially for waxing.”
@kirstie_lawrence: “I’m continually having this conversation with students who don’t necessarily see the point in getting their Level 3 qualification because they believe they can do one-day courses.”
