Insider Nails

PRETTYLITTLETHING

Nail treatment and retail business was solid in March with the majority reporting the same or better figures compared with this time last year.

While nail trends might currently be leaning towards simpler and shorter nail styles, there will always be clients who favour length. Although some clients are blessed with nails that can grow to their preferred length naturally, others may need a helping hand from their nail tech. There are many ways in which techs can extend their clients’ nails, but the two most popular among this month’s Insider respondents were full cover tips (54%) and gel sculpting (33%).

You can read more about ways to promote natural nail growth in our builder gel feature on page 62, and find out how PB’s two-time Nail Salon of the Year award winner Olga Clapcott prioritises her clients’ nail health in our lead interview on page 49.

METHODOLOGY Insider is compiled from a monthly survey of spas and beauty salons. The people who participated represent a cross-section of the industry and were polled by email and social media from April 3 to April 11, regarding business for the month to March 31. Nail business for the Insider Nails page was calculated from data provided by salons that offer nail services among other treatments. The figures given represent the average score for each answer. Brands are ranked when mentioned by several respondents.
