April brought a steady performance for many nail businesses, with 43% reporting treatment levels in line with April 2025 and a further 19% seeing growth year on year. Retail results were similarly balanced, with over half of businesses maintaining or improving sales.
Behind the scenes, salon owners say the biggest hidden cost of running a nail business isn’t always financial. Nearly half (48%) cite last-minute cancellations and schedule changes as the most frustrating drain on time and revenue, while others point to admin, stock management and the growing pressure of maintaining a social media presence.
Encouragingly, 67% believe clients are becoming more informed about nail health, suggesting growing awareness around safe treatments, product quality and professional expertise. This shift is also influencing future service trends. Natural nail strengthening services are expected to see the biggest growth over the next year, followed by express appointments and nail recovery treatments.
