Should VAT be removed from SPF permanently?
@kellywinstanleybeauty: “Yes!! I’m so sick of people saying SPF is the reason for cancer. I’ve had so many DMs. I’ve honestly never heard anything on this before this year. The misinformation is crazy. We need to have a ‘slip slap slop’ campaign like Aus did! ” 👏🙌
@carolinehirons : “Yes”
Justyna Rostek: “Absolutely. Definitely an essential, NOT a luxury item and should be classed as medical preventative.”
Skcin: “Sunscreen certainly should be certainly exempt of VAT. We have supported the removal of VAT from SPF products for over two years. We are delighted to see it being spotlighted by Government. Many consumers cannot afford sun cream and sun cream should be accessible and affordable for all. We have the support from industry stakeholders. We will continue with lobbying with Government and submit to the UV enquiry.”

What inspired your career in the industry?

@avas_lounge: “I was told by my school careers advisor that I was ‘too bright’ to go into beauty as a career. Almost eight years after leaving school I decided to pursue it ” ✨
@the_corneotherapy_consultant: “I too was told by my career advisor that I was far too clever for a career in beauty, but I stuck to my guns and have had a very fulfilling career spanning 37+ years. My reason was because I wanted to work with people ” 💫

21% of salons now operating at a loss
@beauty_lounge_ tankerton: “It is harder than ever as our outgoings are astronomical. I’m so thankful to have a strong, successful business. I wouldn’t be able to survive if I didn’t.”
@jessicamessenger.co: “Not shocked at all by this, the sector has suffered wildly since the pandemic. The general population’s purse has been severely hit these past few years and it shows in their spending power.”
Louise Butler Beauty Academy: “It’s hard to compete with the growing number of salons in back gardens having lower prices than those who are in shops paying rates.”
